Privacy Policy

1. What this policy covers

MetaIntel.net is a database of professional esports player settings and gear. This page explains what information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, which third parties receive it, and what you can ask us to do. It describes what the site actually does today — it is not a generic template.

2. Information you give us

Account: if you register with an email address we store that address and an encrypted password; if you sign in with Google we receive your email address and basic profile from Google. Passwords are stored encrypted by our authentication provider — we never hold them in plain text.
Profile: the display name, avatar and bio you choose to fill in.
Content you publish: posts, comments and images, plus likes, saves, follows, direct messages and group messages.
Requests you submit: data corrections, player profile claims, and feedback messages.

3. Information collected automatically

Usage analytics (Google Analytics 4): page views, referrer, device and browser type, approximate location. Google sets its own cookies for this.
Session recording (Microsoft Clarity): Clarity does more than count visits — it records mouse movement, clicks and scrolling on the page so we can find what is hard to use. It does not capture text you type into input fields.
IP-derived region: on the community pages (/guides) your IP address is sent to the third-party service ipapi.co, which returns a province or country name that is then displayed next to your activity. We store the returned region name, not your IP address.
On-site reading history: posts you open are recorded so they can appear in your "viewed" list.

4. Who receives your data

We do not sell your personal information. The following third parties handle data in the course of providing their service. Several of them necessarily receive your IP address, because that is inherent to making a network request:

Supabase — authentication and database storage.
Vercel — hosting and access logs.
Google — Analytics 4, Google Fonts (loaded on every page), Google sign-in, and Google Translate (see below).
Microsoft — Clarity session recording.
ipapi.co — IP region lookup, community pages only.
flagcdn.com — country flag images.

5. About the translation feature

When you switch the site language, some text is sent to Google Translate's public endpoint to be translated in real time. That means the translated text passes through Google's servers. Please do not enter information you would not want a third party to process in fields that may be translated.

6. Cookies and local storage

The site itself does not use cookies to track you, but Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set their own. We keep a small number of preferences in your browser's local storage — language choice, the last tab you had open, sidebar state, and a cache of translated strings. That data stays in your browser and is removed when you clear your browsing data.

7. About player data

The professional player settings, gear and team information on this site are compiled from public sources (player streams, official announcements, Liquipedia, HLTV, ProSettings and similar) as a factual reference. If you are a player or their representative and want an entry corrected or removed, contact us at the address below.

8. Data retention

We keep your account and content for as long as the account exists. Content you delete is removed from the site. If you ask us to close your account we delete the account and its associated personal data; public content that others have replied to may be retained in anonymised form so those conversations still make sense. Third parties such as Google and Microsoft retain data under their own policies.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete your account and its data, or export the content you submitted. Email the address below and we will handle the request within a reasonable time.

10. Children

This site is not directed at children under 14 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you are a guardian and believe a child has given us information without your consent, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

When the site changes what it does with data, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. We will note significant changes on the site.
